Hurricane Preparedness

The South Carolina Emergency Medical Services Association (SCEMSA) and the South Carolina Emergency Management Division (SCEMD) are collaborating to review and enhance the state's hurricane preparedness program. This effort will critically examine the state hurricane plan to integrate relevant concepts and protocols for EMS, including ground, air, and field personnel. The initiative aims to determine optimal EMS strategies for preparing, responding to, and recovering from the upcoming hurricane season, focusing on resource staging, communication, evacuation support, and maintaining patient care during and after a major storm.
