This is a hybrid course that lasts approximately 16 weeks. Course content consists of online synchronous and asynchronous course work as well as in person lab skills days.

Course Description
Our 240 hour Hybrid EMT-Basic program exceeds the minimum hours as required for certification as a Basic EMT in South Carolina (200 hours minimum required by DPH). This is the initial pre-hospital emergency medical technician certification in South Carolina and there are no pre-requisites. This program prepares the candidate to provide basic emergency medical care to victims of trauma and illness. This course follows and exceeds the 2009 US Department of Transportation (DOT) / National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) EMT-Basic National Standard Curriculum.
SCEMSA Community Projects Grant Initiative
This course qualifies for the SCEMSA Congressionally Directed Spending Community Projects Grant Initiative. Upon successful completion of the course and successfully certification with the National Registry of EMTs. Student will receive a refund for the full tuition amount paid during registration. For students to receive a tuition refund they must successful complete all course requirements and credential with the National Registry of EMTs at the level of the course. Students must supply SCEMSA a valid NREMT credential at the level of the course and not exceeded 24-months from the end of class or the maximum allotted attempts at the cognitive exam as allowed by NREMT Policy. Entrance Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (copy must be provided).
- Eighteen (18) years of age prior to the last class
- Be physically fit and able to perform all the tasks required of an EMT-Basic (refer to Appendix A: Americans with Disabilities Act, Attachment 1: Functional Position Description, for description of all essential duties of an EMT)
